Daimoku - The Lotus Sutra - Nam Myoho Renge Kyo

One of my colleagues told me about the Lotus Sutra today.  Many thanks to her. Pronunciation of the Lotus Sutra can be heard here and the chanting details given here.  

Buddha himself gave the Sutra and he had said words to the effect that "Do not worship me, worship the Law."

The Lotus Sutra - Nam Myoho Renge Kyo is also called Daimoku. Simple meaning of the sutra is as below.

Nam (Devotion) - Myoho (Mystic Law) - Renge (Cause & Effect) - Kyo (Sound)

Nam Devotion to...
Myoho ... the Mystic Law...
Renge ... of the Lotus… (lotus is the symbol of the Law of Cause and Effect, or ‘Karma’)
Kyo ... Sutra (the teaching, the voice of Buddha)

What I liked most is the analogy with the Lotus Flower given here.

Just remember your own Buddha hood (treasure?) within you while you read the parables associated with the Lotus Sutra.
